I live in Australia now, but I think that pulling the Hornsey Town Hall down is an insane idea! It should be preserved and listed, not be replaced with some monument to greed and small minded thinking.

The Town Hall is our heritage, we have lost many old buildings in the past, we know now not to destroy our unique buildings

Having been born, brought up and worked in Crouch End, Hornsey Town Hall was once the centre of the local community. Its resurgence as an Arts centre is just as it should be. I have many fond memories of the Town Hall as a child and my own parents remember attending dances there themselves when young. This potential sale is just another example of Haringey Council using Crouch End as a 'cash cow', with no real concern for its residents and their needs- witness the ludicrous amounts of coffee shops and up market 'artisan' chains that continue to replace more traditional independent shops. Horsey Town hall should be retained not just for its architecture but also as a venue to bring the WHOLE community together, providing social, educational and recreational space for young and old.

Haringey have been trying to sell HTH off for years. This time I think they may succeed so may be the last chance to save it for local people. Once it's gone, it's gone.

The Town Hall is a beautiful building and a community asset that must only be developed in a way that is sensitive to the needs of the community and the unique environment of Crouch End. Due to its location crude or rushed decisions here could be disastrous.

I feel it is very shortsighted to allow the Town hall to fall out of the community domain . It has long been neglected , almost deliberatelty so its safe and valuable use is almost unviable. Now we need to stop it fall into the wrong hands. Private investment is undoubefly needed ,but with involvement from sensitive investors who see the community as its key market. Crouch End is a wealthy area both culturally and financially we need to work together to make the Town Hall work.
