I’ve been with a couple of individuals who were about to pass and Home Health were a great help, company and source of comfort.

A longer, more public involvement process needs to occur before a change like this is made. For profit and delivery of high quality patient-centric care are rarely a good pairing.

My wife passed away 2 years ago. 5 years before she retired from Dare Home and Hospice as an RN... People still stop me and want to introduce me to people. It is always the same..."This is Margaret's husband." Then hugs and tears... Dare Home and Hospital is not some sterile organization. It is flesh and blood community members with wonderful skills to help families on their journey through life and through death together... There is NO dollar value you can put on this.............The question to ask is this: will the county residents be better off with an outside organization taking over. The 3 proposals each say they have economies of scale and the ability to provide equal care... The 3 expect to make a profit... How?...If the non profit county system can't make a profit now, how would these companies?.. The answer is that they can't without gutting the services and playing mean hardball on payments (easily bankrupting families). The county is rushing without reason and forethought AND input from the community. Should the county offer higher salaries, try to arrange schedules better- absolutely......Hospice is an essential service of the county which none of us want to use but all of us will back because it is the right thing for our neighbors.. Put any thoughts of selling on hold NOW...

We oppose the sale of the Home Health and Hospice Services . We think there should be a task force formed to look at ways to improve and retain the services.

Dare County Hospice provided an invaluable service to my mother, and me, leading up to her death. I couldn’t have cared for my mother without help. Please reconsider getting rid of this program.

Much needed services should not be removed, but expanded. Our elderly population is growing, as is the need for hospice care

My husband used this service when he was sick with cancer. It is a vital part of passing away with dignity. Please let it remain in the hands of local people.

Save this great resource in our community. The county has already admitted it’s the money. Dare county has to recognize that it’s population is growing and is going to need more services. Historically selling out to large corporate entities result in deterioration of service followed by a structured and planned closing at a loss for the big people only to protect their money from taxes.

I used Dare Hospice when I brought Rex home for Duke for the last time. They were amazing! So helpful, so available. I hope we can keep this local and control the precious understanding needed at these sad and trying times.

Dont sell out our community to big corporation. I will never vote for any commissioner who votes to do this. Take care of our seniors for once, Instead of tourist!

County hospice provides services that envelop the entire family; the community is family....If you outsource to a private organization it becomes about the money and not the family, it separates families that can pay and those that cant and today we need to unite not divide. We can do this, we have volunteers waiting to reach out unless its changed in the last few years DARE county hospice volunteers are the BEST. You can not have a county based program unless you have volunteers and it takes a special person that you may not get if someone sees it as a paying job. Why not bring the community together to come up with options instead of an attorney? no harm intended thank you
