We don’t need an outside agency. They will not care for our friends and neighbors as well as Dare county staff. I know from personal experience how much they care for their patients.

Keeping the agency county owned demonstrates a commitment to working with its employees and clients to identify and remedy issues within a reasonable time frame. The County boosted pandemic financial relief to licensed day care centers because of anticipated future need and ever-present staffing shortages. The same reasoning should apply now for County residents at the other end of the health and human services continuum who need the employment and/or the services.

As a local pastor, I can’t say enough about our county Home Health and Hospice Services. I have been present at the bedside of dying church members who received excellent care from these nurses, and the families were beautifully supported during the last days of their loved one’s lives. WE NEED THIS TO CONTINUE.

Knowing that there are changes that can be made to decrease the financial loss, keeping the agency private and local is a no-brainer! How much $$ do the Commissioners want to put on the loss of quality care for our elderly neighbors!

I have seen first hand the good this agency has brought to the community. Its staff cares about the people in Dare County- please do not sacrifice quality and dedication for a few bucks!

This is another example of the "powers that be" in Dare County completely disregarding the wants and needs of residents, particularly those who struggle. Please rethink this terrible decision. We need to take care of own.

This county needs more local services that support the people who live here. The Dare County Board does seem to base decisions on the dollar amount and also on conditions that support tourism rather than on the good of the local population.

As a full time resident of Hatteras island, the need for this county agency to continue as a county agency, and not a privatized one is strong. Make the changes to keep good nursing staff for our residents.

Dare Hospice was a great help and comfort when my husband -- a young 69 -- was dying from pancreatic cancer. You think you are suffering financial losses now? FOR PROFIT will guarantee financial loss!

Move money from beach nourishment and fund this better. Contract out instead of selling and see if they can run at a profit or leave alone and know they’re providing a necessary service at a loss

The County service is essential for continuous affordable reviews of our citizens. To sell to a for profit group does not appear to be in the best interest of the citizens.

This critical service should not be privatized. We need an affordable solution for our citizens. And we need to protect the employees by keeping them as county employees with the benefits and pensions that they already earned.

Dare Home Health and Hospice has been there through many aspects of my life with my father, John Quidley. My father was a quadriplegic that required that help of home health many times and in the end needed hospice when the cancer took over.
We had tried other private agencies, they NEVER provided the same care or had the compassion that the staff of Dare Home Health and Hospice had.
The nurses and staff were always there, no matter what. I remember having to call them multiple times in the middle of night, they always were happy to help...whether it was a leaking wound vac, leaking IV, or at the end me just needing to talk and needing support. Not only mentioning the things above, many of the nurses and staff watched me grow up, from the time I was in diapers to the time I got my license.
We need to stand up and save this agency so that the residents of Dare County can have amazing and compassionate care during some of the hardest times of their lives. We owe this to our neighbors, friends, and family.

I can't adequately express my gratitude to the Dare Co HH&H staff for the services provided to my family members. They genuinely CARE about their patients and are SO dedicated. What a disservice to this county it will be if we lose this amazing group.
Say no to for profit healthcare!
