The historic portion of the Middle School is a critical contributor to our nationally recognized and designated Historic District and landscape.
'Benign neglect' is not a sustainable approach to facilities maintenance, nor should it be a justification for demolition.
We have been blessed by the gift of this stunning building - it is ours to preserve, not squander. Let us be creative and innovative with an adaptive restoration and utilization of the 1927 portion of Hudson's Middle School.

This is one of the only historic schools left. My niece currently attends the middle school and I went to high school there.

1927, I graduated close to fifty years later, 1975. Loved the old side of the school. Best teachers. Take the quaint small town and keep destroying it . Thank God Kepners is still there.

Please rethink demolishing the old Hudson Hih School. Not only do those halls hold many precious memories, the building is an integral piece of Hudson's history. I thought preserving the history of the community was what made Hudson special.

I have such fond memories of this school and strongly believe in preserving historical buildings. I have been gone from Hudson for 50 years and visited only once 2 years ago. One of the favorite places I visited was this school.

Preserving this building is like preserving a piece of art. Why do we do it? Because we know another one just like it will never come along again. When they built it they knew it would be a monument for all times to appreciate, and that's why they put in the detail and care they did in building it. Why preserve the Sistine Chapel? Why preserve the pyramids? Why preserve the White House or the Washington Monument? We know these structures will never come along again and they stand for what we value. They stand in appreciation for the hard work and talent it took to build them.

Part of the appeal of Hudson has been it's schools and its dedication to protecting its historic architecture. HCSD should follow the lead of other communities, like Elyria, and not only save the historic facade but build a building which complements it.
