These theater programs for young people are VITAL to the artisitc life and culture of Tulsa, as well as hugely instrumental in giving these kids a chance to excel and thrive and hone their talents. Do not close Henthorne!

I grew up in Tulsa when the arts were a given. We were taken to the symphony, museums, and various other arts programs. Say what you will about the oil industry, the early oil barons knew that to compete with other cities in the country they had to have cultural entities, thus the ballet, orchestra, museums, etc. I have always been proud of the rich cultural heritage given to me in Tulsa...a rare jewel in this part of the world. It has given the world many world class artists and leaders in all walks of life. I'm a bit baffled why Tulsa's leaders don't look back and recognize this legacy. Maybe instead of needing more police in cars, they need to invest in training our youth in the arts and encourage involvement in programs such as Clark, etc and let those kids take ownership and pride in those organizations. That's how we "clean up our streets". We have a treasure in our youth...why throw them away? How many more surveys and studies proving the worth of the arts do they need?? The arts certainly kept me involved, busy and off the streets. I have worked with kids for years and can't tell you the number of parents who have thanked me because without their child's involvement with the program they would have ended up in a gang or other negative influence. Please wake up world...we need the arts now MORE THAN EVER.

This theatre is a treasure to many people in our community. The type of educational and youth mentoring programs that happen at Clark would be an immeasurable loss to the city of Tulsa.

I worked for many years with Heller Theatre and knew many children who benefited from Clark Theatre. The arts are to important to even consider cutting. The theatre community in Tulsa is thriving. How sad that the city wants to cut these exciting programs.

I spent the vast majority of my after school hours at Clark Theatre during high school. Being in OnStage Youth taught me how to be part of a group, how to take responsibility for my actions, reliability, as well as many, many other things that have served me well as an adult. Being part of that group gave me an outlet for all the crazy emotions that come along with growing up. I wouldn't be the person I am today were it not for all the people I met I that group. I am raising my family in Tulsa and want my son to have the opportunity to express himself if he wants to do that. It would be tragic to lose funding for theater in Tulsa.

Clark Theater has been a second home to countless young people. Theater teaches life skills and Clark Theater is a daily example of those skills. Keep Clark and Heller Theaters open!
