The demolition plans are officially scrapped and the bowling alley stays. I am drained from this long fight but relieved to know our history at the Golden Bowl is safe for now. Keep your eyes open for future development proposals because we know exactly what is at stake.

Save the Golden Bowling Alley from Demolition!
It has been decided the that the Golden Bowling Alley "Golden Bowl" and other surrounding businesses of the East St center are going to be demolished. The existing businesses will be replaced with a superstore under the management of Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage.
~The Golden Bowl has been the heart of numerous events in historic downtown Golden since 1952.
~Participating and hosting multiple community events such as the "Scrambowl-Bowling for Lights" which decorate South Golden Road every Christmas season, and the "Golden Cruise". An open-to-the-public exhibition of antique cars.
~The "Golden Bowl" Structure has been listed as a historical landmark.
I do not believe the plans to tear down the "Golden Bowl" would be in the best interest of Golden, its history, or the community. Small businesses have become scarce, and the removal of these establishments for big business would further diminish our local funding.
I believe it should be a choice of the citizens of the City of Golden, and the community of Jefferson County, to determine whether or whether not to remove of our historical landmarks.
I plead each and every one of you to support historical Golden in its preservational efforts to sway "Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage" to find another suitable location.

Hitting two hundred and fifty signatures feels heavy because it proves how many of us see what is being lost. My phone has not stopped buzzing and the exhaustion is setting in but I refuse to let this place disappear without a fight.

My kids learned to bowl there. Such a huge part of our town history. Please dont tear it down.
Seriously? There are plenty of empty lots for a new store. Leave the golden bowl where it is.
Enough with the big box stores. We dont need another grocery store here. Leave the bowl alone!
TRASH. Why ruin a historic spot for a store we already have a million of. Greed plain and simple.

Just moved to the area and the bowling alley is the best part of the neighborhood. Fix it up instead of wrecking it.
