Save Folk Memorial Park from Development!

Delaware has destroyed enough land in the last few years with the insane amount of neighborhoods they have built

There are powerful interests involved here to whom the City consistently cave in terms of development. An equally powerful collective voice is needed to try to stop this. The proposal is not just disrespectful in the way they attempted to ram it through, but delivers nothing but pain to the surrounding residents and no tangible benefit to City taxpayers at large.

I have heard the terms of the proposal by Newark Charter School to the City of Newark regarding the hand-over of this City park to Newark Charter School for the development of athletic fields for their use and find this to be totally inappropriate and unsuitable.

I believe this project will cause too much hardship for residents of Newark. Traffic, parking, noise and many other issues are at stake.

Not necessary. Already too much traffic

Save our park, our home values and peaceful neighborhood.

Upgrade an existing ballfield elsewhere and save the forest which will grow and store carbon, protect water and air quality and provide habitat for many many decades.

Stop removing all our forested areas!

I was shocked when I recently learned of this proposal. The City Council and Officials continually push Affordable Housing, (Section 8 Housing), Low-income Housing. They continually require Green Space and Canopy Coverage in development projects. To learn they would even entertain a project that does not take any of those aspects into consideration, but actually contradicts or ignores all of them is inconceivable. It brings me to wonder what financial compensation the City stands to gain by ignoring principles that they so repeatedly claim must exist. This is every environmentalist’s actual nightmare. I will support canceling this outrageous and deeply concerning initiative.

Stop this unnecessary intrusion on the few woodlands left in the area!

I live in Villa Belmont. I'm firmly opposed to this plan to turn over public, green lands to Newark Charter School's development.

Protect this natural space, Newark!

Please save our trees, wildlife and beautiful peaceful walking trail!

Build the stadium complex elsewhere. Do not take an existing open space park. If they must have a stadium, share one with another school or refurbish the Leroy Hill complex that exists now, has access and parking and is currently used by the school teams.

With so much vacant industry land and barren fields I pass in Newark, this is a terrible waste to ruin this park. Hasn't enough of Newark be destroyed already? I'm all for progress and kids sports programs, but I don't believe in encroaching on homes and residents, lowering their equity and peace of mind. I also don't believe in stripping what few trees that provide oxygen to an area that when I moved here in 1960, is now a former shadow of itself in environmental beauty. Please, find another location.

Save the environment

City parklands must be kept for the use of ALL city residents to enjoy.

No way. Newark Charter has already been afforded way too many dispensations. Why should the wealthy, and privileged be afforded so many special benefits?
