Save Folk Memorial Park from Development!

Do not allow public land to be used for private companies. Newark Charter is a private, for-profit organization and has no right to this public land. As a 55 year resident of the area, their proposal appeals me.

Newark recently announced their initiative to preserve our green canopy, then they turn around and want to remove six acres of green canopy. Save the trees, do not tear them down!

Destroying parklands and trees on public land for ballfields for a private charter school is not acceptable !

Please stop destroying green spaces in Delaware. Repurpose declining strip malls if space is needed.

Welch tract road cannot handle the amount of additional traffic these additional fields will bring onto the road. At least three intersections are not able to handle the volume and will increase potential for accidents Welch tract and Whittaker, intersection with pleasant valley and likewise merging on 896. Whittaker road will see increase in traffic as cut through and Whittaker curves do not manage bidirectional traffic well. Increased traffic will increase potential of traffic accidents

Wetlands need to be protected.

As a resident on Whittaker Rd who travels through Whittaker Rd onto Welsh Tract daily, I feel this could potentially be a negative impact on the amount of traffic on Welsh Tract and could potentially increase the already dangerous navagation of the intersection of Whittaker and Welsh Tract Rd.

One of the best things about New Castle County is the number of parks that we have. Even is this park is only used by those that live around it it has more value that way than to be destroyed for use by the school. There are many other ball fields in the area that don't get used. Those need to be improved if need be and utilized before destroying more open space that benefits all.

No, should be left as a park!!

My concern as head of Whittaker Rd. Neighborhood and the Whittaker/NCC Block Watch is that even more traffic on Welsh Tract Rd. will exacerbate the already dangerous intersection with Whittaker Rd.

We are losing to many community parks

I'm disappointed with city council. This should not be necessary. But since it is, I'm happy to sign this petition.

This is tremendous amount of energy and commitment of school, and city, resources going toward destruction and a radical transformation of a park and neighborhood for something that will be in use for 4 months out of a year to benefit only a portion of the school population. How about NCS invest a million dollars in an environmental club that uses the woods at Folk teaching forestry, botany, entomology, ecology and conservation of natural resources. There is actually a real world need for that. With a shift in values NCS could develop the most accomplished High School Environmental Studies Club in the state. That would be a benefit to all in this community.

Save this park and keep it peaceful and quiet as it is now.

There is no benefit to the city to give away Folk. Let it be a park where the people benefit- not just the select few from Charter.

My family plays at this park in the summer please don’t get rid of it.

Please save Folk Memorial Park! Once a green space is gone, it can never be replaced. Don't we do enough to harm nature and the environment. Saving this park would at least a step in the right direction.
