Reinstate Florence Roche Elementary 3rd Grade Field Trip to Plimoth Plantation and Mayflower II
Final supporters
This field trip supports the 3rd grade curriculum in the District and meets all the criteria for offsite field trips set forth by the Florence Roche Elementary School Administration.
Plimoth Plantation, the Mayflower II and other historic sites are located in our own historically rich state of Massachusetts and therefore should be taken advantage of.
This field trip offers students the unique hands-on experience to better understand how the Pilgrims and Wampanoag Indians lived and co-existed in their native / original environments. No textbook, lesson plan or in school substitution can supplement this experience or type of learning.
Our sister elementary school, Swallow Union, is doing the trip. This is not equitable learning between the elementary schools that are in the same district.

this is ridiculous. if the other school goes we should too. keep the curriculum fair for everyone across the district.
hands on history is the best way for kids to learn. my son still talks about the field trips he took in third grade. please reconsider.
total nonsense. stop taking away the good stuff for the kids.
my daughter was so excited for this. why cancel it now? it makes no sense to cut this when it aligns perfectly with what they are learning in class.
the kids deserve this experience. textbooks are fine but they dont compare to seeing it in person. bring the trip back!
