Although "obsolete" as a means to an end, color darkroom printing provides a unique opportunity to teach and learn applied color theory.

These facilities are an important part of our community, please let them stay.

Please don’t close the door on one of TESC’s most unique and special assets!

As an alumni I ask you to, please, keep this lab open.

This is one of the best things about evergreen college, and as a graduate, it breaks my heart to see something that makes the college so special, be taken away. Keep the color photography and keep an important part of the evergreen arts!

Please stop cutting funding to the arts at Evergreen! Our unique arts programs are what make Evergreen special. Save the color darkroom!

It seems sad that these great opportunities are being taken away from such a beacon of artistry. What’s next, KAOS?

Places like this are vital to the community and to the life of the arts in the Northwest. As an Evergreen alum, lifelong PNW resident, and public educator, I strongly urge Evergreen to rethink this decision.

Please save this! Keep our world unique!

I’m a student currently attending Evergreen and would like these services available to students and others who use it.

I'm not signing this because I am a phenomenal color printer (yet!), or because I want to keep color printing so desperately for my own work (which, sure I do) but...far more importantly in my experience thus far, there is extremely relevant and valuable work being created in this particular darkroom. I see it all the time, not just in the process itself but in the connections it forges between students and community members from all over. This space is a safe and cherished place for WOMEN and queer photographers, which can be very difficult to find anywhere, let alone in an academic environment. It is a sanctuary where real people can work together. This practice calls to a certain kind of photographer and it is going to be lost to the digital era if we don't keep it alive. Do we really want to get rid of anymore spaces providing safety and community in our self expression for our students? Evergreen needs to preserve these spaces now more than ever. AND... color darkroom work brings the scientists and artists together in a place and practice where these concepts are not mutually exclusive. If we want to keep nurturing authentic, educated, well rounded photographers, this is how. There is education to be had here that simply isn't available anywhere else. IF we keep the color darkroom shouldn't be in question-- it should be HOW. So tell us, how can we keep this darkroom alive?

Analog photography is core curriculum

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SAVE THE PROCESS! What a tragedy it would be if we stopped teaching, learning, and utilizing film. LOVE THE PROCESS. LOVE THE ARTS.

As an Evergreen Alumni I am ashamed at Evergreen's constant elimination of programs and resources.

This is a unique, widely utilized, and crucial addition to creative and technical cultivation of education at The Evergreen State College. We cannot afford to lose this historic and essential part of the college. As an alumni, I have used these facilities, and have had invaluable experiences learning and undertaking color film processing and printing.
