The Horizon School Division has decided to demolish ERHS in Milk River. This beloved school is Our Grandfather's Legacy. Help us Save it from being Demolished. This petition will go to the Horizon School Division, Alberta Education and the Town of Milk River. Please understand they are not getting rid of the School in Milk River altogether, however will be adding on to the MRES. We are petitioning to Save ERHS and have MRES combined with it.
Addition: It has been hard learning things about what is happening with the School System and Structure in Milk River.
I started this Petition because of one reason, but I am leaving it up now because I want people who were not aware of the proposed changes to the Schools in Milk River to have a way to voice their opinions. I will be closing it on Monday night March 19th and taking it with me to the School Board meeting at 1:00 March 20th in Taber. Have found out it is not on the agenda for the March.meeting. Will have to see what happens for the next meeting. As we are finding out more and more I am leaving the petition open longer. I will let you know when it will be closing. Keep putting it out there. I believe it will have to go to Edmonton to the Alberta Government.
I have come to remember my Grandfather believed first and foremost in Education and I need to take the emotion out of the equation and learn the facts. I no longer live in Milk River and it is the community that needs to decide what is best for them.
I would like to thank everyone for helping me get to know my Grandfather over the years through their many stories and honor. Hopefully, his Legacy cares on, but only time will tell.

At this point in time there is a shortage in housing rentals not only in our town but province wide... What is wrong with our elected officials! Does tearing down this complex make any sense at all . Obviously our town would benifit ie: taxes more population and some of our towns history .... Perhaps a call to Global news CTV may help....!!!!
I believe this is a bad idea. We will lose the school that hosted fellow family members. We will also lose the weight room we have, amazing classrooms surrounding the school, and our gym. Instead of going there moving the MRES to ERHS is a lunch more understandable idea.
That school has so many memories. That aside, it would see to make more sense to keep it since it is certainly large enough to have k-12. It also has all the facilities for junior and senior high options. What are those kids supposed to do that aren’t in the main stream classes?! Not to mention the history of it?
Surely some creative measure could be used to preserve the building, for the community's sake? Can it be turned into an outreach, community, or youth center? Demolishing it destroys heritage, and would be a disservice to Erle Rivers' legacy.
They can't do that, it's wrong it's been there for a long time. So many memories there. My dad went there, I went there, my kids are excited to go there. It's a part of the town, you wouldn't knock down the old theatre because it's apart of milk rivers history, just like that school.
As a student here, I want this piece of our history to last. I want to graduate here!

The high school is the better option for the k-12. ERHS means so much to so many. My father and aunties and uncles all went to this school as well as my cousins and brother. Demolishing this school will be a large blow to the community.
