former pupil 1967-1972 and still local resident so have known the cherry tree a long time. Hope it can be saved.

The environment around us has a significant impact on us as human beings. Do we want our children to grow up thinking that the environment around us is not important? We have to protect this cherry tree which has stood here for 60 years as a symbol of hope for children and their future.

Don't be silly - you can't chop down trees to make way for a bus- what are you thinking? OK you were having a moment - we forgive you - back to your senses and keep the trree - that would be truly a better lesson to teach children.

If there are several people concerned about the tree, they should be listened too, it,s too late once it has been cut down!
