Scottsdale Neighborhood Watch and residents are asking Ald. Curtis to step up and reconsider the planned construction purchased land from Durkin Park in exchange for a bigger pumping Station to pump water to Joliet. SNW is concerned about the health of residents and the possible lowering of home values with the expansion of this pumping Station. Many residents utilize Durkin Park to excerise, play sports, or simply to relax with nature. Eliminating 87,000sq ft of Park District land will reduce space for residents to do all these activities while increasing carbon emissions from the removal of green space. People buy homes next to parks because of the accessibility to the green space for their families. By reducing space this may lead to lower home values and a less desirable community to move into. We ask you residents of Scottsdale to support this petition and for Ald. Curtis to put this planned redevelopment of green space on hold and listen to his constitutes.

This plan needs to be stopped. This is our community. We don't need to build a bigger pumping station for another city miles away. Our community uses this park for many events. Baseball, soccer, walking around, or just sitting on a park bench taking in the beauty of all the trees. Find another park or piece of land.
The community needs the green space not a pumping station! Was there even an ecology study done to project the impact to the environment?
The park is a part of the community. If the land is to be used for a different purpose it should directly benefit the community. Expanding the pumping station would not benefit us.
My 14 year old said, Mom if they keep making the parks smaller, where are we supposed to go to stay out the streets? Sad that he understands the connection and the city doesn't
I’ve been a resident of this neighborhood for nearly 39 years. My kids were all raised here and I’m very upset about this turn of events especially since the taxpayers of this community have not been consulted or informed.

Cannot get back land once it's given away. I say no. Our home values will decline as we also lose Half of our park. This project stinks. Has to be another plan or way for Joliet to get water.
