It has come to our attention that YUSU plans to close D-Bar without first consulting students. D-Bar has been taken off the section links on https://yusu.org/food-drink, suggesting that this decision seems to have already been made.

D bar is the heart of the Derwent community, to remove it would be an act of cultural vandalism
It is unacceptable that YUSU have unilaterally decided to shut down D-Bar without even consulting Derwent students. Club D events are a staple of campus nightlife and it would be a huge loss if they couldn’t happen anymore.
As a former student here, it would be a crime to shut down D Bar. It further closes the necessary community that is gained from these spaces that UoY wants to foster in the first place.
D bar was such a great space for myself and the darts club during my time at university, it would be a great loss for current and future students.
D bar was a huge part of my university experience and helped so much when it came to making friends etc, so to get rid of it would be a loss for students and the uni as a whole
Not been a student for 5 years. But this is a disgrace and must be stopped.

D bar is the only campus bar I’ve enjoyed visiting. It is an antidote to the over priced and sterile direction other campus bars have taken. Closing it would remove any incentive for an evening spent on campus.
