Thanks for your interest in this just cause! PLEASE consider taking 30 seconds to leave a note as to WHY you support saving Citybikes. There are links to the GoFundMe legal drive, facebook group and more at the bottom. THANKS!!

_______

After 36 years of serving Portland's diverse cycling community, one of the four owners (Bob) hatched a scheme to actively sabotage the shop's operations to dissolve the Co-op and steal its assets! Assets that only exist thanks to investments made over decades by loyal customers and departing owners who 'paid it forward' to owners who follow.

Citybikes Co-op has been serving tens of thousands of people for decades. It has helped people of moderate means be healthy, reduce air pollution and help calm our streets. It has held classes to teach people how to service their own bikes. Prior workers have started other businesses and organizations including Oly Bikes, Community Cycling Center, Bike Central, Math LLC and Growing Gardens.

______

Here are a few other ways to help save Citybikes:

1. Contact the shop. Send firm notes to Bob K. asking him to stop hurting his own reputation and sabotaging Citybikes. Send also 'Please abandon Bob K and join Noel T in saving Citybikes' support letters addressed to both Bryce and Claire. These are the four owners: Bob, Noel, Bryce and Claire, and where they stand. You can call in your message to 503.239.0553 (ONLY if you're nice, please) or email [email protected]. (Please email us a copy of your note? Thanks) Snail mail is 1914 SE Ankeny St, Portland, OR 97214.

2. Join the Go Fund Me legal drive.

3. Print to post some PDF flyers in your neighborhood.

4. Join direct actions / spread the word through n Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.

5. Share Instagram-ready PNG color flyer.

6. Send us an email about anything related anytime.

THANK YOU!

The Growing Community to Save Citybikes Co-op.

Citybikes has been a gift to Portland- a place where bikes are fixed and community is nourished.

I just found out about this issue after being aware of the coops on Ankeny for many years since I've been living in the neighborhood and riding training and racing. They always seem very helpful and when I stopped there the other day they were fantastic in terms of helping, education, and low cost. So the idea that there will be a shift in their whole philosophy and methodology is very unfortunate. To me also they represent an older Portland of working together and being less materialistic.

I love Citybikes and want to see it grow, not dissolve. There is an urgent need for bike shops, especially shops that cater to working class people. I worked there in the mid 90s for a year after many years in the retail bike industry. Citybikes was and is a unique concept and model to sustain.
