This clown has been a cultural icon since I was a little kid, and I can't imagine Middletown without it. It's like taking Riverside Gardens away from Red Bank, or the PNC Bank Arts Center away from Holmdel. You just can't do it.

History needs to be preserved. There is too much concrete in the world today, specifically in New Jersey. Time is of the essence to save "Calico the Clown" today !

Calico has been an important landmark since before I had words for the mixed emotions he has always stirred in me. He must stay!! He wards off even greater evils!

Calico belongs forever in Middletown. He's not far from where Penelope Stout hid in the hollowed tree. Both are part of the mythos of Monmouth County. LEAVE OUR PAST ALONE.
