The property where Calico stands is going to undergo major construction, and no plans have yet been made to save him. Created by the same artist who also created Tillie, the famous creepy grinning face in Asbury Park, Leslie Worth Thomas, of the Road Ad Sign Company, he is an icon of not only Middletown, but all of New Jersey, and deserves to be preserved! The land will soon be developed into condos, affordable housing, and an upscale mall, and the developers shrug when asked what will happen to him. Let's band together! We need your support! Share the petition, get friends to sign, and we will have a voice in what happens to our favorite reason for all those evil clown dreams as kids.

I am truly stunned that so many of you care about Calico as much as I do. Seeing this kind of movement around our favorite creepy clown is entirely down to your passion. This is really all because of the people behind these clicks.

It has been a Middletown Township iconic landmark since I was a boy some 50+ years ago. If the property is to be developed, I'm sure there must be a place on Highway 35 that it can be moved to without damaging the structure. (p.s. I never saw this as an evil entity.)

This clown has been a cultural icon since I was a little kid, and I can't imagine Middletown without it. It's like taking Riverside Gardens away from Red Bank, or the PNC Bank Arts Center away from Holmdel. You just can't do it.

Sometimes you gotta just find a way keep the things that are different or old or historical or just plain "weird" in a town, or the town just loses it's character and becomes indistinguishable from every other bland bland, condo-filled swatch of property.

Things can be built while preserving this landmark. To make itook better give it a facelift.. Repaint with same artwork. I moved out of state and had a picture of it printed up on canvas and hung in my living room.

I moved out of NJ about 8 years ago but I still remember this clown. Even if its moved to another location this clown should be preserved as a landmark. It was always a way to tell friends directions.."once you've reach the big clown, its only...." Save the Clown!

I was not raised here but my mother was and seeing the clown let me know we were almost to grammies house. I am now 27 with a child of my own and I wish for him to see the clown and get just as excited as I still do today When I see it.

SAVE CALICO! I just moved to Middletown, but I have been a long-time fan of Kevin Smith's movies and the clown's frequent cameos in his movies. WE WILL PUT IT IN OUR YARD IF NECESSARY!!!!!!!
