B.O.R.C (Burlington Outdoor Resource Center) is a big forest area for students to learn all about the science of nature. B.O.R.C is also a old school that closed down and re-opened for field trips. Now, the city hall of Burlington wants to close down B.O.R.C to put a gas pipeline and to extend highway 427. I think that B.O.R.C and the surrounding area should be saved because animals homes will not be destroyed, students will still be able to learn more of the science and by saving B.O.R.C there will be no pollution from the the gas pipeline or extended highway.

By saving B.O.R.C, many animals would still be able to live there. Animals like the white tailed deer, the red fox and moose will still have their homes and habitats. This means there will be less chances of the population being decreased or even endangered. Students who visit B.O.R.C might see some of the stunning animals that live there because the forest will still be there. Instead of the population decreasing because of the gas pipeline, the population will increase because the animals will still be able to reproduce. Without the construction of the gas pipeline and the extension of the 427 students will still be able to learn the science of nature. By learning and respecting the outdoors, students would be able to use this respect that they learn in their future lives. Lastly, field trips at B.O.R.C are important because students can do some hands-on work which is different and fun instead of always working in the classroom. By not having the gas pipeline this will reduce the chance of polluting the environment. Having a non-polluted forest means you will have clean air. Trees are able to grow with the help of clean soil. If there is no pipeline, companies will not put or leave toxic chemicals in the environment, especially the forest.

In conclusion, B.O.R.C is a very special place for students and animals. Students can learn many things about science and nature while experiencing a little bit of outdoor education and activities. Animals homes will be saved so that they can continue to live and reproduce in their own habitats. Lastly, without the pipeline and highway, there will be less pollution in the area which helps save our environment for the future. B.O.R.C is very important and should definitely be saved.

leave the trails alone. we used to go here all the time as kids and it would be a huge mistake to pave it over for a highway nobody even needs.
