Save Bobs Butchers (G Hunters,Kells Lane)

Independent shops keep communities together, this would be a tragedy.

Why would one persons view within the comments/discussion prevent you from registering your support for the petiton. If you agree with the wording of the petition at the top then surely that is what's important? Perhaps what Ruth ment was that if a compromise had to be reached then that my be a viable option?

Communities need these high quality local shops.

Loss of a craft butcher will reduce the amenity level of the area.

Not happy at all with these proposals see no problem with Nisa extending into the hairdressers but no reason to go beyond that.

We need try and make the owner of Nisa see sense and allow Bobs shop to stay open. I've shopped there for 40 years and to close it down would be a travesty . Our community needs this to stay "OPEN"

Also a highlight if visiting great friends who use the butchers regularly.

We go there 4 times a week they need to keep open

I have lived in Low Fell for 20 years and always bought meat from Bob. It would be a huge loss for Kells Lane and Low fell in gerneral if it was to go. Nisa have lost my custom now - and I used to go in frequently

Since my daughter and son-in-law moved to Low Fell eight years ago they have patronised Bob's butchers and so have I (and I live in Whitley Bay!). The meat is of excellent quality, reasonably priced and the service is excellent. It's a travesty that a high class ,local butcher should be lost to a community that is clinging on to its independence. Local councillors need to get involved and help save this valuable buisiness.

Denton Burn had a thriving local shopping area, now it's gone! Please don't let this happen to our local close knit community. Have the owners of the Nisa really thought this through? Not only will they be destroying the balance of this local shopping community. Come on Nisa owners think outside of your box please. WE DON'T WANT TO LOSE OUR SHOPS How loud can we shout this message?

Samantha, if the people of Low Fell are so passionatly opposed to the loss of two shops which add to the diversity and character of their community that they register their protest by boycotting the Nisa store then they are perfectly entitled to do so. I fail to see how this is 'jumping on the bandwaggon' people are genuinly upset and against this development for a number of valid reasons. I understand both the butchers and the hairdressers are struggling to find new units therefore all their livelihoods are at risk, it would be unfortunate if the staff at Nisa were to suffer also as a result of this but the responsibility for this lies squarely at the feet of the owner of Nisa. As any business owner knows only too well the true value of a business is in the good will of its customers, without this there is no business - just stock on shelves.

Isabella, I do not understand what you find rude or offensive in the discussions surrounding this petition, the vast majority of people are expressing overwhelming support for Bob - whohas served this community for 40 years. Others have also expressed their concerns as to the potential detremental effect the propsed expansion of Nisa may have on this community and others have expressed how this expansion makes them feel. All of this is legitimate and part of the democratic process, to call it 'rude and offensive' could itself be considered 'rude and offensive'

The vast majority of Bobs customers are from Low Fell and like to be able to walk to their local shops to purchase a diverse range of quality, local produce -it is part of what we love about the community we live in and is a rare thing in this day and age. With regards to your aspersions relating to potential parking issues relating to this development, this is a legitimate concern for residents. Should one of the pupils of Kells Lane Primary, St Peters primary, Denewell pre school or Hardman pre school be run over by one of the waggons, which will inevitably incease in frequency to service this expanded store, then I doubt that their parent would consider this argument 'comical or weak'

I believe the parking issue is a legitimate one to raise, a larger shop with long opening hours and and an inevitable increase in deliveries from large waggons only meters away from a busy school entrance. Currently the hairdressers has little or no stock deliveries, Bobs obviously does but the volume of deliveries to service a shop which is open 9-5 Mon -Sat / closed Sun&Wed afternoon will be significantly less than those required to service a massivly expanded convenience store open from v early morning to v late at night 7 days per week. One could counter with 'shame on you for not considering the safety of our children' but I wouldn't be so churlish.

Barbara, you seem to pose a lot of questions and have made a lot of assumptions in your above satement but then tell us to 'do your research'. Pot, kettle, black perhaps?

However Julie it appears that there are a significant number of people who do not want or need an expanded Nisa, convenience stores are ten a penny and the consensus seems to be that we would prefer a range of small, indpendant business offering quality, local produce at good prices with great service. At the end of the day there are a lot of people in Low Fell who are against this, their may be little we can do to stop the change other than to continue to support Bob and vote with our feet.

potential signers are turned off by rude or offensive petitions (personal comments when we no not the truth about 2 peoples situation) even if they are sympathetic to the goals your trying to achieve, the best petitions sound reasonable intelligent and willing to acknowledge other points of view. my vote goes to peter hunt for his humour, he complimented bob, nothing else needs to be said, his votes been counted and made me laugh. Kells Lane does not need an expanded Nisa but it does need independent businesses. The loss of this excellent butchers will impact on the other businesses as well as resulting in the loss of a number of skilled jobs. Why are some people so greedy?
