Save Bobs Butchers (G Hunters,Kells Lane)

All i want to know is, what does bob have to say? has anyone stopped toto think about what he wants? there may be a reason to why he didnt accept steves offer of a new butchers but we will never know the full story unless he tells us his side.

Unfortunately it's very unlikely that Bob will get what he wants. His best bet is to find new premises where we can all support him and continue to shop at his new premises. The landlord is not the sort of man who will give up, he owns the buildings he can and will do whatever He wants for his own gain. The other issue here is stopping Nisa Local from expansion because of parking issues endangering the lives of residents, shoppers and pupils of Kells Lane Junior School. There are a lot of elderly shoppers also. This is a very important issue which should also be taken very seriously. Petitions can be submitted to Gateshead Councils Planning Department where all concerns and objections be submitted regarding all safety issues here. If he expands it will be catastrophic. Kells Lane is a main bus route and commuting area. Why put more money into this mans pockets? Why make the rich richer. This landlord is intent on depriving other buisnesses of their hard earned livelihood so he can have it all for himself. We do not need a bigger Nisa we want our small businesses and a happy and safe community.

totally agree with last comments, new store new customers for both, heard nisa was going to pay for butchers, bigger than his shop now, what more could they have done, they might need bigger nisa to help them try and compete in this day and age, has any one thought the nisa which is independently owned also a local lad, may need to expand, people want and need more these days,

Your comments suggest you are very close to this situation especially since you talk about market value rent and the reference to the lease details. You also appear to have further detail on what a "much better laid out convenience store" will look like. Would you like to share with us what will be contained within so us narrow minded people can judge for ourselves. Are there plans available?

To be fair there is little hostility here, the vast majority is praising Bobs and the collection of shops. People care about the shop that is at the heart of Kells Lanes shops. We don't want to travel, that's part of the beauty if where we live. The #savebobs campaign has never suggested a boycott of anytime. Sadly it seems job losses will happen at the butchers and the hairdressers. The repercussions for the loss of this butchers, which attracts business to these shops will be felt by all traders in this area. Local traders are becoming a rarity, and we are lucky to have these shops at the heart if our community. That's the issue here.

Agree totally with this. If we look at other local High Streets we can see how fragile it is. Cornerstones like Bobs are too important to lose.

You see, this is negativity and hostility, this is something I also can't agree with, if the grocers and bakers have there loyal customers, they not lose them, I will still use them, why stop? it will be convenient for me who does a 9-5 job like alot of people and I don't know about you but have you ever needed a piece of veg you forgot to get on a Sunday or finish work at 5 and also may need fruit, salad or veg? Bakers and salad bowl are brilliant, warm welcome friendly staff but there not there when I always need them so It will be useful to pop into the local convenience for that extra peace I forget, doesn't mean I'll stop using them, I'm still supporting local businesses right?

have known steve barratt for years, and know he would never comment on this or any other social network, he is face to face, why would he go on here calling people narrow minded when they are his customers as well as bobs(he would be stupid) it would affect his own business. or give out personal details, steve might as well have but his name on it because if we read it you would think it was steve nisa/ owner, have been thinking about anonymous all day, then eddie turn ball from that has a go at steve. just realised from the same words to previous messages anonymous and eddie turn ball is the same person. they are trying to cause trouble. anonymous was not steve barratt

And I don't suppose you can share with us a legitimate source where you got the information on a bakery counter? As you can see I am following this story and haven't seen or heard anything of this so it seems like a vicious rumour aimed for the bakery to see.

If you ask me Eddie, you are digging a very deep hole!! As Isabella stated, earlier posts have highlighted that Bobs customers travel from far areas to come to his shop... Therefore I feel that your new argument of parking is rather comical and weak!!! While we are on the topic of car parking, it might be more worthwhile creating a new petition regarding the car park prices and permits within Low Fell! They are having a negative impact on all local shops (Nisa included!!)

when you say the landlord is intent on depriving other businesses for personal gain you must have forgot what was published in the chronical about him not raising the rent since he took over ownership, personally i think that is very generous and not greedy at all aswell as the fact the landlord offered an alternative (which was declined) which was also very generous

I don't know why my comment got removed but like I said if anyone read it, butcher's and hairdressers have there network and can be successful anywhere, whether here or there, last thing probably anyone want to see is a Tesco or whoever could potentially go there ran by not local people not taking them into account take over right? Bigger picture.

lets hope bobs new shop doesn't have parking issues for all his customers that travel for miles just to bobs, putting lives at risk, neither the nisa or bobs would do that, and both parties would be upset you saying that, shame on you for going down that road now, you have never raised this issue before, you are just trying anything

Total disgrace. Something needs to be done to stop Nisa ruining Kells Lane

Bob's shop is at the heart of the Fell. We can't lose a family run enterprise like this.

totally gobsmacked, we talk about saving independent shops and jobs, how dare u say you can have the hairdressers but not the butchers, I see no problem who do u think you are, as long as its ok with you. just put me off signing

However the bulk of their business is local and pedestrian. We are also concerned about the knock on effects on the other businesses. This is a community issue.

Everyone? The vast majority are voicing their support to Bobs, the community wants them to continue in the current location. It's a little disingenuous to state that everyone is spreading vicious lies. As a campaign we support out local shops.
