The Blue Hill community will not benefit from further infiltration of corporate chain commercialization. We need more local businesses.

We do not need a Dollar Store in our town. What about a Super Walmart? We don't need that either. South street can be a pedestrian friendly place with people-size businesses, slow moving traffic and a safe neighborhood for all.

We don't need or want stores owned by big corporations from "out-of-state"in Blue Hill; locally-owned stores are better.

Please don't change the unique flavor of this town by bringing in a Dollar Store.

Blue Hill has such character and beauty. Please do not drag us down the path of big box stores on South Street. Dunkin Donuts is bad enough...

Do we really want South Street to become another High Street Ellsworth? Because that's the way we're headed unless the trend is stopped now.

Family Dollar, your presence on South Street is desperately required: our swirling pool of useless chain stores approaches the brim like Taco Tuesday in a truck stop toilet. Please suit up in your fanciest $1 shower curtain, equip yourself with your highest quality $1 plunger, and get pumping. Then give'r a real good scrubbing with your finest cleaning products. Oh, and don't stop in the traffic circle or mow down pedestrians in the crosswalks on your way out.

It is very important to recognize the value of what we have, and how easily we can lose it. We need thoughtful regulation and good governanace.

When I learned about this proposal, I thought: that would be the end of Blue Hill as a unique Maine community. The very concept of Dollar Store makes BH like every sad and failed town across the country.

Development of this land for franchise use would ruin the character of the town. We will NOT stand by and allow it.

I helped draft the Surry Comprehensive Plan and urge Blue Hill leaders to put a plan in place as soon as possible. Surry has been saved and Blue Hill needs to be.

Selectmen-
Blue Hill , with no zoning laws, is putting the town open to chain stores of many varieties. Not all of them will be as nice as Chuck is with Tradewinds. Even Chuck has allowed Dunkin Donuts to harm our local bakeries.
Let's STOP it now.
