These stores do not make a place that people want to move to or visit and they export money from the local economy. Refuse to buy from there and dunkin donuts and prevent an Ellsworth High Street in Blue Hill.

Blue Hill was just named one of the best places to live by Down East Magazine. It spoke of its natural beauty and unique local community. And now, three months later, corporations are on the verge of coming in and transforming this beautiful area into another Ellsworth. There must be something that could halt the process. Many towns have banned chain stores and corporate greed from their communities...why can't we?

It is past time that Blue Hill come up with some rules governing development. As the area continues to grow, developers will accelerate their plans to make a buck off the beauty of the location - and in the process, drastically change the character and beauty inherent in the town, and in the long run, actually decrease the value of the town. Chain stores in particular stifle economic development, because most of the profits go to their headquarters, not to local businesses that then spend money in the community.

Please, do not create any more Dollar Stores in the Blue Hill Peninsula, as they are unnecessary, cheap, and besides - Our Environment cannot sustain ANY more plastics. Plastic is choking our water and air. Are you aware of this fact? Reconsider.
Thank you for NOT putting another dollar store in Blue Hill at any time in the future.

The lack of any type of zoning is truly problematic. Remember "topless donuts"? If the town can call a moratorium on cannabis businesses then it can certainly call one on chain stores until some type of comprehensive plan can be created and put into place.

People in the small towns of Maine have gotten along for generations without the corporate insertion of these so-called "dollar stores" which carry a vast array of cheap plastic junk along with some brand name items in the OTC health and beauty products category which are available in regular grocery and drug stores where people go at regular intervals to get what they need. Dollar stores are a symptom of the corporate philosophy of growth of market share no matter if local markets want or need them. Putting independent operators of retail stores out of business with all the unhappy consequences does not matter to corporations in search of wealth accumulation. Such is the nature of capitalism and why it must be replaced by a socially equitable economic system. NO MORE DOLLAR STORES!!!!!!!

While I know some of our citizens would find such a store of benefit the character of Blue Hill won't. Plus the nature of the manufacturing of that kind of merchandise and the excessive consumerism it encourages is abhorrent to me. Please reconsider your approval and join this plea for thoughtful appropriate alternatives.

I was born and raised in this town, and got married to the love of my life in this town. Blue Hill will forever be a part of me, and it is perhaps one of the few places left in this state, not protected by government, that is truly a beautiful, quiet little town where wholesome values live. Despite allowing Dunkin Donuts to enter our boarders, I do not wish to see this beautiful town and all of it's wonderful glory destroyed by big businesses. Please, do not allow such horrible visions of greedy people coming in to make an extra buck to come true. Preserve this place, so that many may experience the beauty and let our small, family-owned shops survive for years to come.

I grew up in Blue Hill. I have seen it change inch by inch, row by row and have earned the right to say I come from a small uncorrupted town. Even though I do not agree with the Dunkin Donuts being built, I could not stand seeing the gateway opened to disgusting chain small business destroying unsoulful stores such as Fdollar...
