The central post office at Register Square will remain open. We have confirmation that the closure plans are cancelled and I am currently reviewing the formal documentation to ensure all services stay operational.

I met with the local council office to deliver the current signature list and discuss the lease terms at Register Square. We are now preparing a formal response to the service provider to challenge their proposed closure timeline.

The Beverley PO is in great need of a re-vamp to make better use of the space, and easy access for disabled customers. However it is a vital and much needed facility for residents of the town, and its services cannot be crammed in to W H Smith

Looks like save struggling private Enterprise (W H Smith) over our local public “working very well for the community” post office. How on earth can you cramp all of the services it provides into that small local Smiths shop. It would all come to a standstill.

NO -impossible to locate in Smiths, I can hardly walk through NOW. We NEED this Post Office and it's facilities to carry parcels through to the counter. In a store like the Prospect Centre in Hull it seems to work but it will not work in a poky hole like Smiths.- Think again. -Ernie

This town is growing by new houses etc. We need a post office that is capable of serving the public. Our elderly wouldn't be able to go on line and the small post office left wouldn't cope with the extra work! Wake up and see what you are going to cause!!!!

My thoughts are with the elderly customers that visit every week just for a simple chat and their pension, some have no other reason to leave the house. The post office and the staff do much more for the community than you’d expect. Would be sad to see it go.

We have lived in Beverley for 38yrs & in all that time we have never walked into either the Post Office or WHSmith's & not had to queue, often having to wait a considerable time. WHSmith's is far too small to accommodate all the Post Office facilities. With all the new housing Beverley is getting bigger, not smaller, to relocate the PO to WHSmith's is ridiculos. Please do the sensible thing & leave the PO where it is.

Beverley is due to expand massively over the next few years with thousands of new homes planned for the green field sites within the new Minster way ring road. Surely, given projected population expansion, this down-grading of a key facility in the town is very short-sighted and shows a real lack of joined-up thinking? If WHSmiths becomes another High Street casualty of the Internet shopping age in the next few years we could be left without a Post Office at all. Save our Beverley Post Office!
