I have lived in Prospect Heights for 35 years and can confidently say that Bar Sepia is the heart of my gentrifying community. It represents my still diversified community, welcoming everyone. To love Bar Sepia is to rend the fabric of the neighborhood I call home. I hope that Bar Sepia will find a seat at the table to negotiate to remain open.

This place is what communities are made of. I would be heartbroken without, both for myself and for what it represents as an intersection for the different groups in the neighborhood.

Bar Sepia is the only place I have ever experienced real community--where I could walk in and talk to strangers with kindness, where good music sparked great conversations, where watching Obama clinch the election resulted in euphoric high fives with everyone, and where I can always go when the day is too much. Please please don't let it go.

Bar Sepia is one of the amazing businesses that make this neighborhood the thriving community it is. Allowing them to purchase this building will keep not only this amazing local business open, but this neighborhood an iconic corner of New York owned by real people.

My husband and I had our first date here. We bring friends here and Sunday dinner here. We watch political debates (and start our) own here. This is one of our places. We don’t want to ever see it go.

Bar Sepia is more than just a place to drink and eat. It is a vital part of this neighborhood, a real community gathering place, which is increasingly rare. Please consider selling to the current owner. This is exactly the type of establishment that makes a neighborhood thrive.
