APAS, a 35 year old Asian organization, is on the brink of being permanently destroyed.
The currentExecutive Committee and some board members have decided to go ahead and destroy what has been an icon identifying Asian Heritage and Culture in the greater New Orleans area! Their intention is toseek votes at a general membership meeting todissolve APASonSeptember 23, and simultaneously liquidate assets of over $100,000.Only general members can dissolve APAS. This meeting is crucial to the survival of APAS.
Just imagine what will happen if APAS is dissolved forever...the New Orleans Metro area:
· will NOT have a place for Asian communities to have a voice
· will NOT have the annual Asian Heritage Festival that brings together different Asian communitiesand mainstream
· will NOT have opportunities for the general public to learn more about Asian cultures.
· will NOT have a place for future generation to showcase theirrichcultureand heritage
· will NOT have anavenuefor organizations to reachout tothe Asian communities
· will NOT have an organizationthat brings together families with adopted Asian childrenand Asian communities
Most importantly, there will beNO place for different Asian communities to come together as one.Our community will becomefragmented and disconnected. The following link is a videomade in 2009that highlights 30 years of accomplishments.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have put your name behind this effort. We are nearing a milestone I never thought possible when I started this, but we really need one final burst of energy to keep the momentum from fading now.

The Asian community can not afford to lose APAS. The "blood, sweat, and tears" of those who have labored to see this organization grow and flourish deserve our respect and support. I echo the comments made by Kevin and Theresa.
I do support Save APAS! I am a past Chair person, and I feel we have all done so much in the past, to let the present Board get away with all the things they have/ have not done.
I fully agree with Kevin Pollard and I am one of the several APAS members praying and supporting the Group of Concerned Members to save APAS for our Asian-American communities' enormous benefits... I also strongly agree with Kevin that a Professional Mediator shall be needed to resolve the issues and concerns for acceptable solutions that shall preserve APAS, its ideals, and all of its objectives and purposes as embodied in the Articles and By-Laws of this organization...
STOP THE DISSOLUTION. APAS is too important to NOLA to just throw it away like this because of some board drama.
My kids grew up in this community and it would be a shame to lose all that history. Please rethink this decision and keep the doors open for everyone.
In case you were not informed....we Saved APAS!!!! It has been over a year since this petition was created and finally it is over. Since September 2014, we filed a temporary restraining order to open up APAS membership and to hold a fair election. We do not know the extent of the financial damage but know a lot of work is needed to bring APAS good name and reputation back. To learn more, go to: . In the mean time join us at a celebration luncheon this Sunday October 11. This is also a fundraiser to help pay for the legal expenses. Please consider donating if you cannot attend. APAS has certainly been a bridge within the communities and communities at large. To take dissolve APAS is to disrespect all the time and effect past participants have put forth from cultural events to community out reach. Those who truly understand an organization's mission, vision, and goals would not have the audacity to expect otherwise. If there major issues, perhaps it should be brought forth to the members instead of dissolving a respectable organization.
