Please help me save One World Dragon Boat from dissolving the non-profit.

What is happening? I recently learned all the Club's assets have been sold and the Non-Profit will be Dissolved. The clock is ticking. Time is of the essence.

Who am I? Denise Bauer, I founded the organization in 2012.

One World is North Carolina's first and only openly LGBTQ non-profit that was created for and is dedicated to bringing together people, all people, to learn, experience, practice and participate in the century’s old sport of Dragon Boat at all levels of competition.

Sport brings together people who may otherwise never encounter one another. In the field of competition, sport is the great equalizer. Why? To quote Euclid, "Things which are equal to the same thing are also equal to one another."

Why save One World? There are so many opportunities, so many things our community can achieve together for and with our youth and people of all ages. Please do not allow this meaningful, rare and precious resource to be stripped away from our community. Today more than ever our social discord and fabric needs mending and healing. I know that together we can salvage One World and put her on the path to working toward that end.

This is just one project that together we can set our sights on and achieve. In 2022 the Gay Games will be held in Hong Kong. The Gay Games are held every four years around the globe. 2022 will be the first time Dragon Boat will be included at the competitions.

Let us send an area LGBTQ and Ally (yes, Allies are allowed to participate) Team to Hong Kong to represent Charlotte, North Carolina and America overseas. Let us show the world our better angels.

What is the ask? Petition the remaining members of One World to not dissolve the 501c3 and instead turn the non-profit back to me. I will take it over with a new board and together we will work to serve the community by providing opportunities and creating safe spaces for people to see and learn first-hand that we are stronger together, that we are so much more alike than we are different. We can change hearts and minds one person at a time.

Please sign this petition to make that dream once again become a safe, healthy and vibrant reality.

Thank you!

Surpassing this milestone feels heavy given how much we have lost, but seeing this level of backing gives me the strength to keep fighting for our future. It is exhausting work to salvage what remains of our club, yet I refuse to let this community dissolve without a true struggle.

Denise is deserving of this opportunity to preserve and resurrect this organization. Denise's passion and talents are what One World needs to regain momentum in the community.

If there are folks who want to step up to continue this important LGBTQ venture, please allow them to run with it! It adds something irreplaceable for the Community.

Please let Dee continue this legacy. She had a dream that so many have enjoyed and benefitted from. It should be permitted to continue and grow.

You are why One World even became a reality. I'd love nothing more than to see you take a team to Hong Kong in 2020! I fully support you!

Denise is an old friend of mine. If she is willing to assume the helm of this organization, why not let her?
