We are writing to you regarding the inception of American Society of Public Administration’s (ASPA) new Section on South Asian Public Administration (SASPA). The membership to this section is open to anyone who is a student, researcher or practitioner interested in South Asian public administration.

In the recent past, the field of Public Administration in the United States has seen a rising number of students and scholars studying administrative and policy issues of South Asia. Hence, validating a need for a formal platform to bring together scholars of South Asian Public Administration.

Please show your support by signing this petition.

Note: You have to be a current ASPA member to sign the petition.

This is a very needed section given the importance for ASPA to continue its internationalization process. I look forward to join it.

I fully support the initiative. Much needed. SASPA can play a crucial role in meeting the growing public administration and governance challenges of an incredible diverse South Asian Region. I would be happy to be part of the group and to shoulder additional responsibility to move it forward.

I strongly support this proposal. Some of the most interesting experiments in public administration are taking place in these Westminster democracies that are part of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation). For example, few of us know the path breaking public administration reforms implemented by the previous Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, an alum of the Harvard Kennedy School.

South Asia is distinctive in many aspects, including social, cultural, economic, political traditions and conditions, and its public administration is gaining more importance and recognition in the globalized world. The research and exchange on this unique region and its issues will contribute to our understanding of public administration of the countries in the region, but also benefit the development of democracy and the progress of governance in the region.
