Akimel may just seem like a school but it is a community. Akimel has super supportive teachers and students. I know that obviously schools have to close but why does it have to be ours? Instead of thinking of this like closing a school think of it like closing a community or a neighborhood. I for one think aki should stay as it is the highest enrolling middle school and is in a very convenient location. SAVE AKIMEL!

I sent both my sons here. We live in Maricopa and it was a huge bonus having the option and opportunity to send our boys to a school that out ranked any school in Maricopa academically.

I believe Aki should remain open. It’s the most accessible middle school in the area, conveniently located right off the freeway—unlike the others, which require navigating side streets.
Additionally, my son played baseball there, and Aki has one of the better-maintained fields in the district.
On the topic of sports cuts, how does the board plan to address the reduced opportunities for students if programs are eliminated?

Akimel has 200 more students than Altadena and is at a better location for students traveling from out of district. Don’t close the school that is most accessible
