Akimel A-al is not just a school, it is a community. A community of staff, students and parents. ❤️

Please keep Akimel open!!! The displacement of the kids will not be beneficial in any way.

Akimel has the highest enrollment of any middle school in the district and is an A+ school with our dual language program and so much more. The demographer has never visited these middle schools. Thus, closing this particular school cannot be based on an intelligent assessment of the quality and population of the school. Make better and more informed decisions please.

While I understand impact on the budget from funding, I do agree with so many others that this should be a well-thought out phased decision. It seems priority was placed on the “richer” parts of Ahwatukee rather than community impact.

Akimel A-al is a highly enrolled school. Families bring their students Akimel A-al from all over due to the community, culture, staff, athletics, and sense of belonging. Akimel A-al has a great location close to DV, the 202, and is in the heart of Ahwatukee.

My child just started there in the dual language program and absolutely loves this school. We will be heartbroken if we have to change schools. The teachers and staff at Akimel are amazing and we need to keep this school open.

It is beyond absurd to consider closing Akimel.

Akimel is more than just a building or numbers. It is about kids, families, and our incredible community. The district needs to prioritize stability and compassion. These drastic cuts make no sense.

We cannot let Akimel shut down. I am a current 8th grade student here, and I cannot verbally describe how much of a positive impact Akimel has had on me, and everyone else here. As a part-time community actor in my free time, when my community theaters costs are way too high, guess where I turn to, the place where people are caring, supportive, and puts on the best shows I have been in…. AKIMEL. Every single one of us students will fight like you-know-what to keep this community open.

This is such a wonderful school. My grandchildren have gone here from elementary all the way through junior high. I would hate to see the school clothes. They are amazing.

This would have a negative impact on the kids and all the feeder schools to the middle school. It would hurt the property values in the area and could cause further devastation in the community and surrounding areas
