Keep the middle schools open and revisit this conversation/concern in two years. As someone who has previously managed a large department at a different district, I have witnessed first hand the negative impact of closing down schools and dismissal of parent/student concerns has on a district and its morale. Do the right thing, redistribute funding and go back to legislation to request support in order to avoid any and all closures. We are currently experiencing a political crisis in all areas and the children are paying the highest of consequences.

I love Akimel A-al Middle School I went to school here along with my sister back in 2013-2016 . We are from Gila River Indian Community and I’m glad my mom sent us here. I had the best middle experience here. To me it felt a dream come true honestly it’s an amazing perfect school because all the other schools I went to before I would get bullied and here at Akimel I felt like I could fit in and make friends, felt like a second home. What I like about this school is that they have a variety selection for curriculums. They have such amazing, nice, hardworking teachers and staff. I love to sing so I had joined the choir group and around that time our teacher’s name was Mr.Lee . I like how they also include Cultural Nights for the students and families because everyone can interact and learn about different cultures the school ha within. What else more can I say, I just love Akimel so much for what they have to offer for students and families to have a successful and fun year. Fingers crossed

Akimel Middle School is a cornerstone of the Ahwatukee community and one of the highest-performing schools in the district — academically, athletically, and artistically. Closing it would dismantle programs and opportunities that have taken years to build and proven their success through countless state championships and awards.

Families are leaving Centennial & Altadena. Families are NOT LEAVING Akimel. In fact, Akimel is the only middle school that is growing! Do not close your most chosen middle school on the west side!

I love Akimel A-al Middle School I went to school here along with my sister back in 2013-2016 . We are from Gila River Indian Community and I’m glad my mom sent us here.
