Akimel deserves to stay open! It is a very successful school in so many diverse areas. Please keep Akimel A-al open for years to come!

Please keep this wonderful community of students, parents, and teachers, together. There’s a reason everyone feels so strongly about saving this particular school. The impact it’s already made on so many lives of students, speaks for itself. My fear for my students ability to transition. Should this school close.

Akimel A‑al Middle School in Ahwatukee is a vital community gem that blends strong academic programs with cultural richness — its Dual Language program helps students succeed both socially and cognitively, while preserving and honoring Native American heritage. The school also delivers well: more than half its students are proficient in reading, and its performance ranks among the top 50% of Arizona middle schools. Closing it would disrupt close student‑teacher relationships, undermine community identity, and reduce access to excellent public education in Ahwatukee. SAVE AKIIII

Akimel is a great School and it provides great education and environment for our students. Closing Akimel will bring a very negative impact to all of our students for the rest of their life’s. Keep Akimel Open

I truly believe the staff at Akimel saved my grandson's life on more than one occasion. He had been through so much trauma and was struggling. Akimel was his safe place. He's doing so well today and I credit Akimel for much of that. Akimel is more than just a school. I've never experienced anything like the way they cared for and believed in and protected my grandson, and that same care and concern was extended to me as well. It's a very special place and it would be a damn shame - not to mention a huge loss to the community - if the school were to close.

Our children’s middle school is more than a school — it carries the name of my people, the Akimel O’odham, and proudly displays our culture throughout its halls. Closing it would mean losing a place where generations have learned, grown, and connected to our heritage.

Akimel is not only the best performing school on the West side of the district, but it’s also where families CHOOSE to go! This school can not close based solely on the diverse nature of families that attend there and choose to do so from outside the boundaries!
