Ten days from now, Alliance Academy for Innovation will host its first Homecoming dance. Ten days from now, our school will become the first out of Forsyth's eight high schools to not allow its students to vote for Homecoming royalty—a Homecoming king and queen elected by the Senior class. Ten days from now, students at our school won't be able to buy from a variety of food-truck vendors at the Homecoming dance—something that's been a staple of Homecoming dances at schools like Lambert High School, who invited the Bento Bus (http://bentobus.square.site), an ice-cream truck, a pizza truck, and other local vendors to their dance on September 11, 2021.

All that we're asking is for students at AAI to have the opportunity to attend a normal Homecoming. Given that our school already doesn't have any sports teams or a band, the least that we can do is to not deprive our students of the same Homecoming experience afforded to students from other high schools in the area. As concerned students and parents, we have but three requests:

  1. Allow for current AAI Seniors to vote for a Homecoming KING and QUEEN
  2. Allow for AAI students to buy from food truck vendors at their Homecoming dance
  3. Move AAI's Homecoming from the BUS LANES to the top floor of the school's PARKING GARAGE

Ever since Alliance Academy's inaugural year, students have been forced to sacrifice their own experience as high-schoolers due to an Administration that has been unwilling to listen to or to appreciate their voices. That changes today.

**This petition WILL be shared with AAI's Administration, with the expectation that they will recognize students' and parents' concern and make the necessary changes to this year's Homecoming dance**

The administrators at Alliance Academy are finally feeling the heat because of your relentless pressure. They think they can treat us like second class citizens while other schools enjoy a real dance but we are exposing their pathetic excuses for what they are.

we came to alliance in hopes of the best education in Forsyth county, but all of us were scared it would come at the cost of a traditional high school experience. sadly that's been true

Alliance Academy may not be a traditional high school but some traditions such as homecoming royalty are a core part of american high school culture. Please allow us to have this one thing.

I’m not happy with the location so it would be nice To see it moved but I think the homecoming King and Queen should be more inclusive and go by “royalty” to keep up with times. Many of our students are non-binary, Trans etc.

As a current senior of AAI and having been at AAI since freshman year, I feel the senior class of 2022 should have a fulfilling Homecoming dance.

What’s the hold up? It’s silly that the school doesn’t want to afford these amazing students the opportunity to create positive lasting memories. Just imagine them telling their grandchildren “yeah, our homecoming was held in the bus lane of the school parking lot”. I know my student will not be attending in this case, sadly.

Traditions nurture connection, bind communities, and link generations. We could all use a little more tradition. Proud of the Class of 2022!

The administration needs to start listening to the student body!
