We the members of Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba who sign this petition hereby give our formal objection to the recent Lawmakers Process Vote that was held in Sagkeeng First Nation on October 15,2016.We want the results of the election declared null and void due to several reasons.Most important of which is the Supreme Court Corbiere decision which ensures off reserve members have a realistic chance to vote and have access to an off reserve polling station. Also the Canadian Human Rights Charter may have been breached which ensures no discrimination or barriers to equality be applied to a group of people.

This process is flawed for many, many reasons. There has been very little consultation with Band members. Less than 10% of the electors approval does not even come close to legal under a democratic process. This is obviously an effort by a small group of people who do not have the experience and knowledge to put forth a constitution that will serve the best interest of the community.
If you were properly educated you would know that Sagkeeng band members that live off reserve are involved just as much as those who live on reserve just goes to prove how much to care enough to stay involved with the community, so don't go acting all hurt when you exclude yourselves.
For me the most important question about this process is, where do members that do not belong to any of the four groups belong or fit in this process? Nobody has ever answered this question so it leaves alot of band members who are not in any of the 4 groups. Until this question is answered then I will proceed to support or not support this process!!
No attempts to engage the majority membership in Winnipeg, therefore the process is null and void.

things need to change cause this vote was handled so poorly. how can they ignore everyone who lives outside the reserve? it feels like they just wanted to push it through without us knowing.
