Safety Wheels USRA
This petition is to adjust the rules for safety of all USRA Tuner / IMCA Sport Compact drivers by allowing each driver the option to run race purposed wheels all the way around their car for competition purposes. Along with what could lead to safety concerns for track officials, fans & drivers from parts breaking off cars during race actions, there have also been many races altered due to the center of a wheel breaking and coming off. Points of validation are for adjusting this rules starting in 2021 are as follows including but not limited to:
1. Racing wheels are stronger in the center as designed for the purpose of racing thus do not break like a factory wheel does with the stress they are put under. Any wheel that comes off during any race event can hit officials on the track, spectators, or flag man as well as unnecessary damage to a fellow competitors car.
2. Allowance of racing wheels up to a 7 inch width and an offset between a 2 and 4 on any corner does not give a car a performance increase but rather helps with the handling of factory built cars that are used in a manor other than originally designated.
3. With the requirement already for all steel wheels to include 1 inch lug nuts installed, the factory wheels become damaged and weaken due to factory wheels having different seating degrees at the point of contact between factory wheel & lug nut. This causes stress cracks and breakage to the required factory wheels whereas race wheels are designed with the same lug nut seating permitting a better fit.
4. With the availability of factory wheels becoming more difficult to locate and almost similar in pricing, permitting race wheels OPTIONAL will not affect the affordability & cost effectiveness of racing in class
To reiterate, for pricing and safety purposes for all persons, we sign this petition for alterations of the sanctioning bodies ruling to permit specific sized race wheels as an option for each driver no matter the vehicles year make or model.
