This is pure nuts by TDC, it costs them nothing to run or maintain. A group of volunteers have given up their own time to keep it running in superb condition. As well as being a huge draw at the Carnival, it may also be seen driving around the town during the summer months giving rides to children as well as Classes at most schools giving lessons on steam, then being taken out to the road, class by class, to meet the team and the Clacton Queen in person. It is an attraction, and a valuable teaching aid for all the local schools, whose fetes it visits yearly. TDC, Please rethink this !!!

If The Council must sell it give the Society first refusal and a reduced price to thank them for all they’ve done over the years. Without all their fundraising and hard work it would not be the fantastic roller it is today.

What a disgrace if it's not costing them the maintenance fee What s there problem. We have very little left in this country that we can call our own that is British made and kept Clacton roads going all those years ago.Perhaps there could be a syndicate where people can by shares.

I remember the steam roller going past my home when I was a child in the 1940s. It took coal from the railway station to gas works

A kick in the teeth for the volunteers, such a small amount of money to find for such an important part of Clacton’s heritage.

This should not be sold, for the years of free work on her that the volunteers have done. She should be given to them this is part of Clacton for the people of Clacton!

There are 4 who qualified with a Group G licence to keep this on the road, and have put many hours and effort in to keep it going, and to raise funds to that end. Help us keep it in Clacton.

This fantastic steam engine lovingly looked after by a great team. They use all their spare time to clea, fix and run the Clacton Queen. Shame on the council to even think about selling it. It is Clacton’s history loving looked after by a great band of clactonians. Leave it alone.
