I have not only had the honor of being coached by this legend but have also worked with him over the last twenty years in bringing football to over 1500 young participants who would not otherwise had this opportunity through the Red Wing Youth Football Association. Russ has always been there for our youth and helped them appreciate the game of football by tirelessly and genuinely showing them that he loves the sport itself. His leadership has been phenomenal and above all, he has used the sport to teach young adults many life lessons that have been invaluable to their growth and well being as a person. Thank you Coach Marshall.!

With as much love and respect he gets and for everything he gave to RWHS, it would be an honor for RWHS to have a field in his name. 41 years as a football coach? That can't be too shy of nearly half of the program's existence. Russ deserves it!

When I think of coach Marshall. It brings me back to the dog days of summer. My teammates and I would be busting are tails off in practice. No matter how hard he would push us to be better football players. He was also pushing us to be better all around in life. He would always make jokes throughout practice to keep a smile on our face. I'm thankful I got to play for this man. My thoughts are with him and his family.

russ rode the blocking sled in 1971 & 72. He and Oliva, Celt and Chalmers were great together. Russ always related to us. He put his heart and sole in to kids. Great person who touched many of us. Naming the field will carry on the stories of his life. My prayers and thoughts are with Russ and his family
