Have you registered for a Run or Dye event only to find that the run has been cancelled? Here in Champaign IL, we found after our own research that they never even received a permit from the city, yet they continue to advertise for the upcoming event and pushing to get more people registered for a race that cannot happen, and will not happen. After looking into other events, it looks as though this may not be an isolated incident. It is time we speak up and stop the fraud
After several attempts to clarify with Run or Dye, we have all received the same response. "Thank
you for your message and your willingness to share your concerns. It's
true that we are in the process of working with the City of Champaign to
address some issues that we became aware of fairly recently. Our
representatives have been working very closely with the city since then
to get all the details ironed out. Before we make an announcement to the
public with regard to any changes, it's very important for us to make
sure the announcement is definite and correct--otherwise, it creates a
LOT of confusion for folks.
I
can assure you that if we do need to make changes that, in turn, make
some folks unable to participate in the event, it will be our policy to
offer refunds to those affected. We take our responsibility to our
customers very seriously, and while we never anticipate challenges to
arise, and it is a rare occurrence when they do, our top priority is
honoring our commitment to our runners.
Again, as soon as there are updates that have been solidified with the appropriate personnel, we will let everyone know."
However, after speaking with local officials, this event was not, nor has it ever been approved in the city of Champaign. They have still been posting advertisements of them coming to Champaign, and sending emails trying to get more people to register. They know they are not coming to Champaign, yet will not come forward and give the people the information they deserve to know. Many are running for a cause, have taken off of work (Lost Wages), purchased special attire for the event, and are genuinely excited for it. I believe we have a right to the truth from Run or Dye and a full refund for our purchases. (the website clearly states no refunds for any reason). If you feel the same way about this circus, please sign and share with your friends and family who have been effected by this. I'm certain it is not only us here in Champaign, IL. Let's be heard by Run or Dye and finally get some attention from their company.

Run Or Dye: Hi Kayla! There's a ton of advance planning that goes into making these events awesome, and if everything doesn't line up just right, sometimes we need to hold off on opening registration to ensure our participants get the Run or Dye™ experience they deserve. That is why it may take us some time to announce an official date.
