We, the undersigned, wish to express our dissatisfaction with Sheffield City Council’s proposals to switch to fortnightly bin collections and reduce the size of our wheelie bins. In particular:
- The council’s failure to consider the significant impact of these changes on students.
- The failure to consult students about the proposed changes.
Many students live in houses of multiple occupancy, where significantly more rubbish is created than at other properties. By reducing the size of black wheelie bins and halving the number of collections, the council will further aggravate the tension amongst local residents caused by rubbish.
As a result, we urge the council to continue weekly collections and maintain the current size of wheelie bins.
Should the council insist on carrying out this measure, we urge them to provide larger wheelie bins for houses with multiple occupants.
