Rajasthan Public Service Commision (RPSC) had flown the advertisement for recruitment of 10 Assistant Town Planners on the 2nd March of this month. In this advertisement essential qualification for the post is

"(i) Degree in Architecture of a University established by law in India or qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by the Government. Preference will be given to those, who after obtaining the degree in Architecture possess Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Town/City/Regional Planning of a University established by law in India or its equivalent. OR Degree in Civil Engineering from a University established by law in India with Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Town/City/Regional Planning of a University established by law in India or its equivalent."

Which is conflicting to Central Government advisory of recruiting qualified Town Planners and allowing the architects to fill into Planners position.

The petition will be filed in Rajasthan High Court against this advertisement to revise the rules as per UPSC, HPSC, PPSC, HIMACHAL PSC, JPSC, ITPI membership qualification

As per the recruitment rules recommended by Town and Country Planning Organisation under article 309 of the constitution of India on 26 December 2012 for Assistant Town and Country Planners should have the following essentials:

QUALIFICATIONS : ESSENTIAL: EDUCATION:

Post Graduate Degree in Town or City or Urban or Housing or Country or Rural or Infrastructure or Regional or Transport or Environmental Planning from a recognised University or Institute

OR

Bachelor of Planning or Bachelor of Technology in Planning from a recognised University or Institute with three years experience in the field of Urban or Regional Planning in the Central Government or State Governments or Union Territories or Universities or Recognised Research Institutions or Public Sector Undertakings or Semi-Government or Statutory or Autonomous Organisations.
