Rowing Facilities Initiative - Prince William County

The occoquan reservoir is one of Prince William county's most valuable assets and access to it should be maximized

Clearly critical to our rowing community.

Great idea! Cant wait to have new boathouse in prince william county. We need more diversity.

Please provide this additional boat house for PWC.

I support this petition and request that the Prince William County Board of Supervisors plan, budget, appropriate, and build an additional boathouse to support an ever-growing need for rowing facilities supporting scholastic and community-based programs. It is in the interest of all county citizens to have equal access to such a facility and be similar to those facilities that have been provided to other sports activities supporting recreational, scholastic, and competitive programming throughout the county. The current rowing facility is incapable of supporting the current requirements or any additional membership organizations.

High school rowing is an important sport for our young. It provides opportunities for kids who didn’t grow up playing football soccer or any sport where they need to be indoctrinated at a very young age.

The rowing community is growing for both high school and adult rowers. County support for such a robust community is necessary.

LOVE THIS BOAT HOUSE! This rowing program is the best and the most influential sport to teach our children team work, respect, and self worth. More kids need to participate!

Both high school and club crew in Prince William County has made a huge impact on my family and many of our friends we wholeheartedly support continued growth and support of the sport and hope Prince William County will as well through the expansion of opportunities.

My daughter rowed for four years and we are well aware of the need!!

Many people want to participate in rowing, but the boathouse we have now just can't support any more growth. A new boathouse is definitely needed.

I taught in PWC for over 20 years. Crew provides teamwork opportunities as do other sports… it needs additional resources to expand the opportunities it gives students

Rowing was the best part of my day in high school and I want anyone who wants to row to have the same feeling as me and making another boathouse can significantly help that

Being a new rowing team member and having a high school daughter who is also rowing, I have learned more about teamwork, conservation, and the beauty we have here on the reservoir in my one season of crew than I have in my lifetime. I have lived in Prince William County since 2001, I did not realize what a fantastic resource we had right here in my backyard. What an amazing opportunity for our county to highlight to residents and potential residents that we are the best place to be in the NOVA area for rowing!!! Let's build a new boathouse and grow this incredible sport!
