I don't know all the issues, but it doesn't seem like a step forward to sell city property designated for the future growth of our library.

I don't know a lot about the situation but I feel libraries are very important and I would LOVE to see the Highland library expanded and have the opportunity to be part of the other libraries in the system so we could use their libraries and they could use ours.

Highland City will continue to grow at the pace we've seen over the past 10 years. We only have one shot at giving our children and future residents the class of library they deserve. Don't sell out! Keep our property values and our community's intelligence up by preserving the land for it's ORIGINAL intended use.

Our entire family is at the library weekly and would love for the land to be used for what it was intended for. It would be wonderful to see the children's section expanded and have extra space for additional programs and/or storytimes for the littles and their parents.

Our area needs a nice library that the northern utah county cities can access. Highland is a perfect location for those living in these small to cities to use such as: Cedar Hills, Alpine, Northern Am Fork, and Northern Lehi. I believe Highland needs to use this land for their library and I would love to see these other cities support it financially and any other way necessary.

I love that highland has a library, but I often cannot find the books I am looking for at this library, due to the fact that it is too small and the selection is not broad enough. The library has gotten better over the years, but for many years we have paid the nonresident fee to use other libraries. We've often had to drive to BYU to get books for school papers. By the way, all these address listed in American Fork are really in Highland ( we have the same Zip code!) Too bad this City of 18,000 doesn't yet qualify for it own post office.

Ten years ago, the City purchased 1.66 acres for a future full-service library in the City Center. The biggest complaint we have about the current library is that it is too small. With the current build-out in the north end of the County, we could have 50,000 possible patrons and should actively encourage participation from the citizens of Alpine and Cedar Hills. This could easily be a Tri-City library with shared costs and donations. Libraries provide many services besides loaning books and serve as the heart of community life. In a community that emphasizes low density housing, I am surprised our City leaders appear eager to sell land for a future library to a developer who wants to build apartments. Really! We need a bigger library, especially because our library needs to join the county group of libraries but cannot do so until it grows significantly. There is not room for more books at the current location, yes the library needs to add 12,000 more titles in order to be considered as an applicant for the library county group!

We just moved here in January and were so excited to have a library so close. We came from the Herriman/Riverton area and were frequent visitors of the many libraries associated with the salt lake county library system. As grateful as we are to have access to a library here, I must admit that we have been so frustrated with the library system here, so much so that we continue to drive back to the salt lake county system to check out books there. It was so hard to find the books we needed for school projects, research and genres and for us to find a wide selection for my family to read. And when we tried to utilize other libraries in the area we have come to find out there is an annual charge because we are out of their city limits. We miss being able to request books from any of the libraries as well as the selection and multiple community and library activities and programs that have been offered. We feel that loving to read and learn are so critical to the success of a community and rising generation and having access to a good library resource that is inviting and expansive and large enough to facilitate community participation in learning programs is essential in helping that reality. We appreciate the effort and resources that has helped create the highland city library, but encourage the idea of expanding it into a better and bigger facility in the future. Thank you so much!

We need a better funded library in an adequate facility to provide for our community. We should not have to travel to other libraries to access more materials. Please do not sell the sight planned for the library.

We love the library and need space to expand!!!! We visit our library at least weekly and love all that it has to offer! So much good can come from reading, learning, and having ready access to these good books. We need to be large enough to trade between other libraries as well!

I homeschool and the library plays such an important role. I hate that I need to run to other library's in order to get the books we need, please help our library grow!
