As an proud Indianapolis resident and GMA loyalist, I am thrilled with the news that Robin Roberts will be driving the Official Pace Car at the 2010 Indy 500 on May 30. And I want to read about her experiences by following her on Twitter. Sure, we can get updates from @IndyTalk, but I want to hear Robin tweeting.

Like Robin personally, our family has been affected by breast cancer. So my wife and I have decided to donate 5 cents for each signature we collect -- up to $500 for 10,000 signatures -- to Komen Indy (www.komenindy.org, @komenindy). Better still, my employer will match this for a total of $1,000.

Many are asking why I'm doing this? I believe in the power of social media and am a proud Hoosier who wants to earn a bit more exposure for our fine city while rallying others to raise money for breast cancer research. Robin's personal achievements combined with her appearance in Indy provided the perfect way to connect the two and use social media as the catalyst to engage others.
