Please sign this petition to change a blinking red light at the intersection of Rte. 50/Eastbound End of Bypass to a regular light.
On March 15, 2014 at 5:40 pm, 44 yr. old Laura Gimbel and her 6 yr. old daughter Abbygail were injured in a serious collision as the result of someone not obeying the red blinking light and pulled out 5 ft. in front of their car. Laura was driving approximately 60 mph.
Both Laura and Abbygail lost consciousness upon impact as well as Abbygail's carseat breaking.
Abby's injuries were as follows: black eye, contusions, acute hematuria, friction burns, abrasions and nerve damage to shoulder. She was transported to Easton Memorial Hospital via ambulance and released later than night.
Laura however, was seriously injured and flown to Baltimore's Shock Trauma. Her injuries were as follows: Fractured sternum (breastbone), 3 fractured ribs (sternum and ribs are the most painful bones to break on the human body), retrosternal hematoma, bruising/cuts to right knee, chest and left arm severely bruised, cervical strain/neck pain, and nerve damage to entire chest wall and left arm . She spent 3 days in Shock Trauma only to return home and be bound to a hospital bed for the next month.
Not to mention the physical and emotional pain these two have gone through, Laura continues to struggle daily with chest pain and may require future surgery. Now 10 months post accident she still shows signs of the black eye.
Would you PLEASE HELP HER change this light by SIGNING THIS PETITION? Together we could save lives or a family from this pain!!

My husband was also involved in an accident at this intersection. Luckily neither was seriously injured but I am a nervous wreck every time I use that intersection.
This is a very dangerous intersection ! I myself try to avoid having to go in that direction also when i do have to all i can think about is how Laura an her daughter survived that day ! There really needs to be change here because they are NOT the only ones who have almost lost thier lives or have lost their lives !Thanks
Very dangerous intersection. There needs to be a regular traffic light there and not a blinking red light. I do believe the speed limit is 55 there, very dangerous try to cross!!!!
I hope this prevents another family from going through the physical, emotional, and financial issues are his family has had to deal with for nearly a year.
I witnessed Laura's accident and there have been other ones at this interaction. They should consider revamping the entire intersection as there are also multiple crashes where the bypass merges.
A light is definitely needed there. Hopefully none will be killed before this happens. Praying for Laura and Abby.

please make this happen I love my mother and sister very much... this needs to happen... I do not want to see any other people get hurt at that intersection I'm am a firefighter and EMT and I see these things happen all the time... this can be changed and prevented
