As a resident of Brentwood, I would like to ask the City Commissioners to vote NO to the rezoning of Wilson Pike, (between Crockett Road and Twin Springs Street). This is a land use issue.

This property is in the floodplain, home to albino deer and large oak trees, and adjacent to the bike path and residential property. Loss of natural habitat, gasoline and fertilizer runoff and increased likelihood of flooding are compelling reasons to deny this request. The land would be clear cut destroying the natural beauty and charm of Wilson Pike.

We would also like to ask the Commissioners to treat all religious institutions equally as required under Federal Law, (RLUPIA section 2(b) (2). Gracepointe Church was denied rezoning in 2004 on Wilson Pike, 1 mile from the current request by the Islamic Center of Williamson Country. Safety and traffic concerns were given as reasons.

A traffic study was done in 2004 by Gracepointe Church and in 2010 by the current applicant. The description of Wilson Pike has not changed and traffic has not decreased. Attempts are being made to discredit this comparison. Wilson Pike, north of Concord does not have shoulders. Wilson Pike, south of Concord has hills and blind curves. Both sides are 22’ wide. The 2010 traffic study sited Moores Lane to Church Street. We feel these two properties are similar and consideration should be given to the Gracepointe ruling.

The City Commission has never approved the zoning of a Church adjacent to residential property or on a two lane substandard road.

We the undersigned do not want the property to be rezoned for ANY commercial use.
