Fellow Nigerians,
I hereby petition the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to revoke the planned data rate hike to 0.90 kobo per MB that will see 500MB data bought at 1,000 Naira. This will be about a 300% increase in data price (View link)
I speak for all Nigerian when I say that, after hearing the planned data rate hike on the major media outlet, I couldn't just sit down and swallow it, saying "What can a regular Nigerian like me do". I have to make my voice heard, hence, my petition.
The government should be challenged by Nigerians on any ideology/policy/law not favorable to her people and economy
I am calling for the following immediate actions in view of this
- The NCC should immediately revoke the planned new data rate
- The Nigerian National House of Assembly review the new data rate proposal before ratification
I am not a legal professional nor politician. I am just a regular Nigerian that cannot just sit back and watch the NCC exploit Nigerians

I really cannot believe how many of you messaged me saying you are already struggling to afford basic internet access because this is getting ridiculous. I have been drafting letters to the assembly members all night and honestly my head is spinning but we have to keep pushing because they cannot just decide to hike these rates without listening to us first.

Wrong Timing! Cost of living and doing business is already high and if competition in this industry is forcing prices lower, so let it be.
The idea is not acceptable this time. My expectation is reduction in prices of goods and services not a hike. Despite the hike in prices of goods and services no workers salary has been raised. Where do we get the increase in the price of data?
That's not fair plz NCC
It is a gross injustice that preys on the majority for the benefit of a few. Let a free market remain a free market.
It's unacceptable. These communication companies were already making money off us already. Why would NCC back up an increase in the cost of data?? No to increase in data fees
I say NO to Data price hike
The new tariffs about to be imposed upon us the masses of Nigeria, is/are debilitating.

It's provocative that our so called leaders don't understand secondary school economics. Competition is making a commodity cheap but our leaders think it's a monopolistic market. We are in recession because of theses same mentality. It has to stop.
