They actually reversed the suspension for Ji-Pyo and I honestly cannot believe it worked even though I know how much noise you all made. It feels like a fever dream because he is finally cleared to go back to his schools and his students but we still need to keep …

On March 31 2015, the European Taekwondo Union suspended 7th dan holder, elite player/coach and Taekwondo entrepreneur Ji-Pyo Lim (Sweden) from all Taekwondo related activity for 3 full years. The reason for the suspension was a post Master Lim made in the Facebook group "Taekwondo Sweden" on the 8th of February stating that ETU had dealt with the Swedish Taekwondo Union with "self interest" and in manners similar to "Mafia style".

The suspension from all Taekwondo related activity within the region of ETU for three years is devastating to Master Lim since he is active in all aspects of the sport and earns his living from the schools he is now suspended from managing.

Why should you sign this petition?

If you, like us, feel that this punishment is outrageous and more suited for doping offenses or serious violations instead of plain criticism of the union, then you should sign this petition.

Hit one hundred signatures which honestly feels surreal because I was just staring at my screen yesterday wondering if anyone else would see how unfair this situation is. It is wild to think about Ji-Pyo being sidelined like this for just speaking his mind but we are definitely getting some eyes on the issue now.

Freedom of speech and opinion should never be restricted regardless of format and organisation. Publicly funded organisations should be even more considerate when ruling verdicts. One person's opinions shall never be reflected upon their possibilities to vote, make a living or express them freely.

I support Master Lim in his efforts to overturn the Suspension. I have had the privilige to meet him and his students in Korea where he was a great host and became an International Ambassador of Taekwondo for our TKD Visit in late Summer of 2013Thank you.

As a professional body, the ETU should be able to hold a professional front when on the receiving end of criticism of any sort. The comment had been posted on a closed Facebook group; not on any immediately public space such as media outlets. This action only strengthens his criticism of the ETU.

Doesn't this action prove his words.... ridiculous situation ... too much politics in sports... this does not only affect Master Ji-Pyo but all connected to him and is detrimental to the sport in general.

This sentence should be revoked because a) the sentence is completely unreasonable b) the sentence is a violation of free speech c) the sentence is a result of a national conflict brought to ETU level

It's remarkable that the ETU chose to suspend such a devoted and prominent member of the TKD community just because of a statement on Facebook. Is it because Ji-Pyo has a valid point in his statement..?
