In Washington State, we have a serious and large problem of illicit drug use. King County has seen an increase in the number of heroin addicts in the past 7 years with the last recorded number of 3,400 people in 2017. Safe sites are not the answer as an alternative solution as it allows people to continue their drug addiction. I believe we should take the $1.5 million dollars set aside for the Safe Sites in King County and reallocate this money towards drug and mental health treatment.
Instead of supporting the drug habits of thousands of people, it is necessary to look at the root causes and provide opportunities for treatment, intervention, and prevention.

Fix the root of the problem instead of just giving them a place to use. Put that money into rehab centers and real mental health help.

Enough is enough. My tax dollars should be going to help people get clean and back on their feet not enabling them to stay stuck in these habits right in our own neighborhoods.
