Firstly I don't understand why people were notified so late in the summer when School starts in less than three weeks. Secondly not everyone feels comfortable and polos and we've collected the Spirit shirts over the course of the years of which we paid a lot of money for because they were more comfortable for us . Thirdly I know most teachers would consider this more of a problem then a solution. We are going to a public school so to stop acting like we are in a private school because not a lot of us can afford the regular expenses of school let alone the attire.

This dress code will most definitely single out the Freshman, who are already placed in one hallway that all the other years have to move around. The fact that they can only wear navy is ridiculous and they should be able to represent school spirit by wearing orange, white, or gray, just like every other student in the school.
Another concern I have with this dress code is the way most students will feel dressed in the attire. Many students opted out of polo shirts over the past years because they feel very uncomfortable with tucking in their shirts.
The dress code is supposed to prevent bullying, but in this case it might just make it worse. Please, just let the kids be comfortable in their own clothes and stop making the way we dress more important than our education.

i agree with all of this, the staff should keep the uniform simple because the clothing could be uncomfortable while in class for almost an hour

I am not happy about finding out two weeks before school starts that I need to buy polos.Most of these kids wore the School Spirits shirts because they felt more comfortable in them.Not everyone is a size zero and feels good about how they look with a polo tucked in.If this had been told to parents in a timely manner it might have been different.Not everyone can go in a store and buy a polo off the rack.I know for my daughter I order hers online and I could have gotten some a month or so back for $5 to 7 bucks on sale because of American Eagle getting ready for new polos to come out.Now they are $24.95 each.I know you will say go to Walmart but I don't care if their is a dress code or not there is always going to be issues about names brands no matter what you buy.The kids were just find with how it was last year.Also as far as colors you can't find orange but only at Academy Sports.For the Freshman I feel bad they only have one color to choose from.Its not fair to them to limit them on colors.My main concern is the shirts and being told last minute of a change in dress code.It isn't fair to just expect parents to be able to find polos in 3 days.Not everyone has social media.So there will be many parents and students just finding out Monday they have to go get polos.No one wants to pay extra for shipping in order to get a polo to your home on time because of an error on your part for not letting us know in a timely manner.I really hope you reconsider your decision on this dress code.

Singling out one group of students by their shirt color is insane . not only do you have freshmen who are are already nervous about trying to figure things out and finding new friends they must now have a different color that says hey look I'm new !
It uniforms are meant to help bullying and to keep students from being singled out you are doing exactly the opposite of this .

Why change this so late in the summer!? To single out one grade is nothing shirt of bullying from the ones that's supposed to be there to help & keep this from happing. Middle & highschool is hard enough without being singled out because you have to wear different clothes that your parents may not be able to afford.

All these limitations on clothes dont make atmosphere of "saftey" and "Discipline", it just makes it less enjoyable, no wonder students want to skip class all the time, school gives em more and more reason to not want to be in school.

Other schools around ERHS have no dress code, and they do ALOT better than ERHS! The Dress Code is useless and shouldnt be a thing.

I think it is very wrong and excuse my grammar but your guys principle dresses sexy than any of the students that I have seen there ..I can't understand why you guys can't punish the kids that are dressing in a sexy way like yalls principle you guys need to focus more on education than a Damn dress code school is not the military

My biggest concern is the miscommunication from the school to parents and possible segregating of the Freshman class.... Parents were not informed soon enough and I have concerns about the way the freshman have to wear the same colored shirts Monday- Thursday.... I went to the school office and expressed my concerns. Please reconsider this dress code especially for the freshman. I have an 11 grade Student and a 9th grade student coming to ERHS this year. I really feel that the Navy Blue shirts for just the freshman will cause more harm than good. Thank you.

East Ridge is getting relentless with their dress code. It's giving students the impression that their education is less important than their appearance. They should not be punished for not wearing a particular color or article of clothing. I'm all for professionalism, but education should not be compromised or interrupted.
