Babana’s vision is to be recognised nationally and internationally as a leader in achieving a difference for the Aboriginal communities within Sydney and Australia.

Our organisation has been highly successful in providing high level support for the most disadvantaged Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to gain ongoing sustainable employment.

With the change of government a review led by Twiggy Forrest and Warren Mundine has resulted in our organisation being rejected in our plans for funding to assist in employment.

If a successful grass roots organisation like ours is removed from assisting our community it may then result in the non-continuation of our organisation which will have a very negative impact on Redfern and the Greater Sydney Community

Our organisation puts back into the community as a result of the Indigenous Employment Program.

Support us in our petition to have Senator Scullion from the Coalition Government review the rejection of Babana’s IEP application by Byron Mathews from the Indigenous Affairs Group.

I have been hearing from so many of you who know firsthand how much work we do on the ground in Redfern. We are currently preparing formal letters to Senator Scullion to demand a real explanation for this funding cut. If they think we will just walk away without a fight for our community they are mistaken.

November 20, 2013

Seeing this level of backing for Babana reminds me why we fight so hard for our community in Redfern. This momentum proves that people recognize the vital work we do to keep our families employed and thriving.

The long term cost benefit will outweigh the immediate costs associated with maintaining and growing one of the few useful programmes designed to support Aboriginal men.

If we're shut down who is going to hold the community events and show support to aboriginal people like what we have done in the past???

Most of the job service providers are bloody incompetent and absolutely useless. It's a frustrating experience dealing with them. Most are just tick a box companies (in a corrupt system) with "Case managers" often not even formally trained themselves to help job seekers. I have no doubt that Babana can provide the assistance to Aboriginal job seekers (and value to the taxpayer) and deliver the outcomes . Grant Babana their IEP application, they can do no worse than what is currently available.

Babana have made significant inroads into the successfull & sustained employment of Indigenous peoples on Redfern & the wider Sydney community. If this vital work of helping our people off welfare & into sustainable employment, then it is imperative that access to the IEP be made available & I earnestly seek a review of the decision to reject the funding to Babana

Babana does a fantastic job in the community and have been succesfully placing Indigenous people in sustainable employment.under the IEP program, so why would the IEP application not be approved if Babana are having proven outcomes through the IEP program.

Babana Aboriginal Men's group is an extremely positive and proactive service within the Redfern community. Without their IEP, Their great works and dedication may not be able to continue. This in effect would be a great loss for the men of Redfern and surrounding areas.

This Aboriginal Men's group does a fantastic job helping change the lives for our Aboriginal Men, so Senator Scullion as a Mnager of an Aboriginal Meical Service please support this most valuable program, as I do, thank you.
