Cannot begin to fathom the justification for the name change. What benefits does the school intend to attain by entertaining this amendment? Monetary? Status? To the untrained eye, it serves no purpose.

I think pupils should have been involved in the decision making preocess to change the AGS name. Why lose the Grammar in the name of the school? Why is the history of the word Grammar in the school name vanishing? I'm also concerned as to the financial implications as rebranding isn't exactly cheap and we are at a time when parents are asked to buy textbooks and resources. Changing the crests and signage for school as well as the email addresses (which have only just been changed) will not be free. My sons are immensely proud of their school and proud to be AGS boys - not pupils from HA.

AGS is so much more than a name to me and my brother and all of the previous Adams boys, its who we are and the name should never change because we will always be AGS students

Why? Everyone locally knows the name "Adams Grammar". The school already has a great name, with an equally great reputation, so why change it? In my experience schools that fail change their names - but not successful ones. I personally cannot see what is to be gained by a change of name, not to mention the cost to both the school and to parents of changing the school signage, school uniforms, etc etc, I know from speaking to my son that the change is not popular with the pupils either.
I am against it - Save our AGS.

Not exactly a succint, easy to pronounce name and how much is this going to cost pupils (parents) and staff.

It isn't broken therefore doesn't need mending. The headmaster should remember he is merely a custodian of AGS for a short period of time.

As a former pupil (1962-69) I can absolutely no positives in this rather cosmetic name change. The school will always be AGS to me.
